Belfast z Ryanair

Ryanair to start flying from Belfast City Airport June 26, 2007 Ryanair will soon begin flying from George Best Belfast City Airport, The Belfast Telegraph reports. The newspaper reports that officials from the airline met with managers from the airport to hammer out an agreement last week. Ryanair plans to build up a network of routes from Belfast City that could include Liverpool, East Midlands and Bristol in the UK, as well as Paris, Barcelona, Riga, Brussels, Rome and a major Polish city (either Katowice or Warsaw) in mainland Europe. Flights could begin as early as October, with an official announcement expected in the next couple of weeks. By 2012 it hopes to be carrying as many as 750,000 passengers a year from the Northern Ireland airport. Airlines that currently operate from Belfast City include Aer Arann, Air Berlin, bmi, Euromanx, Flybe and FlyWhoosh. The airport was renamed in honour of George Best a year ago, and last month a commemorative Faberge Egg went on permanent public display in the airport lounge. It forms part of an exhibit that allows passengers to donate money to the George Best Foundation, which raises funds for liver disease research and the promotion of youth football.
